Chapter 27. Bait
Alex barely huffs as she moves her empty cupboard off to the side to get at what little dust had accumulated underneath. Footsteps storm up to the second floor, and Alex is ready at the door for the typhoon about to whirl in. She stands off to the side as she opens the door and Georgie jumps in to call, “Alexandra, you’re leaving?!” She glares at the gentleman to have him remove his shoes and carefully step in.
Georgie half-walks and staggers as he turns, taking in the details; there were crates filled with various packed items, the carpet on the floor rolled up, larger furniture has been moved out from their places against the wall, and a bucket of water and a mop sits off to the side. He slowly turns to Alex and asks, “Why? Why are you leaving?”
