Chapter 25. New Developments
Alex sits at her desk readjusting the ratio of components in the gunpowder for her new bomb. She didn’t dare risk working in candlelight and relied on what little light reached her window from the street lamps and her own vision. Creating a bomb, especially one with several ingredients, was not as easy a task as she made it out to be. On one day she would experiment with the ratios, on another day - with the compartmentalization.
As she continues doing the calculations, a knock at the door scatters the numbers she was holding in her mind. Alex softly sighs as she stands; no doubt it was Mrs. Somerset, unable to sleep yet again. But when she opens the door, it was to an unshaven dark-haired man with circles under his eyes. “Mr. Manchester?” she asks.
“I…” he starts. “I was wonderin’ if I could speak with you in private,” and he gestures to her flat.
Enshin breathes rhythmically with each knife he throws at the training dummy, each blade sinking into the wood.
