Chapter 47

“What?!” I respond to him in panic.

“I said that the Lieutenant is..” He begins and I interrupt him.

“No, James! I heard you the first time!” I say to him and he closes his mouth, making a small sound.

This is not good. This is not good!

“What is he doing here?” I ask James.

This couldn’t be a much worse time. I can’t even move if I wanted to. This means that the Lieutenant could just walk up in here and handcuff me.

“I believe he came to talk to Robert,” James replies.

“Is he alone?” I inquire.

I desire to know as much as possible.

“He is not. Another guy is with him.” He says and I gulp. My breathing has quickened again and I am trying my best to calm down.

“Where is Robert?” I ask and James scratches behind his neck.

“He’s uh..he’s not here.” He says and I swear if I could move my body, I would have broken a vase on the floor out of frustration.

“Where is he?” I say between my teeth.
