Chapter 9
Ricky
A tiny sigh erupts from somewhere deep inside of me as I settle into the passenger seat of Jasper’s car. Before he can breathe me on his dream of beating me someday, my head falls back into the passenger seat of his car.
“You good?”
“Hmm? I say, glancing sideways at him. Then, my brain kicks, processing his words as it does, handing me an answer.
“Yeah. Just tired. The practice was wild.”
Wild is comparing the dance of a child to that of a person who has been practicing for decades. Practice is hell.
Coach seems to have found a new love for making sure we are working till our backs cr*ck. But luckily for me, I forget myself at work when it’s time, and I did just that.
But now, the stress is sitting with me, and I still have to show up at work.
“Ricky?”
“What? You said something?”
“Man, you have to find a solution to your ears. You space out too often these days. Is everything good at… home?”
