Chapter 10
Ricky
I unconsciously dry my wet palms on my jeans, pushing the door open after wishing goodnight to my boss. My mind reminds me of not responding to Pat’s last message. I promise myself I’ll respond later after seeing Jasper waiting for me in his car.
He rhythmically taps his fingers on the steering wheel, miming a song. I’m sure he didn’t bother learning the lyrics. He is hilarious to look at.
“Hey!” he shouts, with a wide smile on his lips, “How was work today?”
My eyebrows rise in protest, sitting on the passenger seat.
“You never ask that question, Jasper.”
“And I decided to ask today. I can be nice, you know,” he responds, firing the engine.
I hear myself in mockery and grab the bottle of water that he keeps in the back seat.
“Hey! I wanted to drink that!” He turns the car, almost hitting the car beside him.
I gasp, creasing my eyebrows. “You should watch better where you are going.”
