Chapter 25. Taking Responsibility

Samuel had loved Mika with all of his heart, but she had abruptly broken up with him, leaving him feeling lost and alone. He'd tried to move on, but every time he dated someone new, he found himself comparing them to Mika. Nobody could compete with her.

He took another long breath and tried to clear his mind of the thoughts. But the wine had made him drowsy, and he found himself falling asleep.

He dreamed of Mika, how she had gazed at him with her brilliant green eyes, how her laughter had filled the room. He fantasized about how she had held him tight and whispered loving words into his ear.

But suddenly, the dream darkened, and he saw her walking away from him with her back to him. He called her, but she didn't respond. He chased after her, but she got farther and further away.
