In a small studio apartment on the Lower East Side, Angeline sat in front of her laptop. The screen displayed the LinkedIn profile of Harry Waston, the CEO of a well-known and growing company. His business was booming, and he was now beginning to explore the real estate business, her fingers that no longer glistened with expensive manicures swiped across the screen, scrolling through every update Harry posted.
“Series B investment successful… expansion to Silicon Valley…” She read with narrowed eyes. In the past, she was the one who accompanied Harry on every one of his achievements. Now, he could only see them from afar.
The 270 square feet apartment felt stuffy compared to his luxurious penthouses on the Upper West Side. The paint was peeling in some corners, and the sound of the subway trains passing below often made the walls vibrate. It was a far cry from her glamorous life as Harry Waston’s wife.
