Chapter 143. Beginning to Suspect
The hallway of Sterling Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Room was filled with the penetrating scent of antiseptic. Harry paced in front of the examination room, his suit looked rumpled, his hair was messy, and there were blood stains on his white shirt—the result of a fight with the kidnappers. After calling the police and making sure the criminals were arrested, he immediately took Alice to the nearest hospital.
“Mr. Waston?” a doctor came out of the room. “Ms. Alice is experiencing the sedative effects of chloroform, but her condition is stable. There are some bruises on her wrists and legs from the ties, but no serious injuries. She can go home tomorrow morning after all the tests are completed.”
