As they entered the director’s office, Mrs. Trovica retrieved a weighty stack of documents from a drawer and handed them to Kaytly.
Kaytly scrutinized the documents with suspicion, carefully perusing them. With each page she turned, her countenance grew increasingly distressed. Finally, she looked up, her expression filled with worry, and asked, “Mrs. Trovica, is this true? What will happen to the children in the future?”
“Kaytly, they want to reclaim this land, and there’s little I can do to prevent it, my dear... That... It’s just...” Mrs. Trovica stammered, finding it difficult to articulate the following words.
