Chapter 19
Rowan’s warm hand gripping hers tightly, Kaytly felt a wave of bitterness in her heart. With a heavy sigh, she pulled her hand back.
“Rowan, I don’t hate you anymore. Truly. But if we have chosen our separate paths, there is no room for regret or turning back,” she said, her voice tinged with sadness.
“No, everything can be started anew, Kaytly. Give me six months. I will finish everything I need to do, finalize my divorce, and we can leave this place together to fulfill our dream of a happy life,” Rowan hurriedly explained, painting a vivid picture of their future happiness.
“It’s too late for all of that now. Bringing up the past can only reminisce. Rowan, cherish what you have now,” a tear slid down the corner of Kaytly’s eye.
Rowan wiped away her tears, but Kaytly instinctively avoided his touch. She turned her face away, gently brushing her tears, and revealed a genuine smile to Rowan.
“Alright, I have to go. We’ll meet again,” she said.
