Facing Edward’s interrogation, Xavia’s anger rose too. “Why? Why do we have to keep this relationship? You and I, we’re not on the same page anymore. I don’t want to love you, don’t want to love anyone anymore.”
Edward’s anger grew as he gazed fiercely at Zane, then his eyes shifted back to Xavia, and the chilling gaze seemed to freeze her.
“All right, I’m leaving. I’m out. Happy now?” Edward shouted furiously, his anger and frustration clouding his mind. He then stormed off and slammed the door behind him.
Hearing the heavy closing of the door, Xavia instantly felt like a drained child. Her body went limp, and she sank slowly to the ground, clutching her head. Soon, sobs of pain echoed under her breath.
Zane looked at her suffering figure and felt his heartache.
What had happened? What had gone wrong? They loved each other so much, yet they kept hurting each other like this?
