Chapter 29. Beta's Clone
"Not usually." She responded in a small voice, frowning when he turned the lock on the door.
He turned around and began examining her, head tilted to the side and an unknown emotion swimming in his green eyes.
Carla felt trapped, like a caged animal that instinctively knew it was about to be slaughtered and eaten.
She had to get out of there and as far away from him as possible.
"Two in the morning, two in the evening," she began explaining, waving three of the tablets for him to see.
"This," she lifted the smallest bottle of red pills that reminded her of candy and smelt like it, "is to be taken once a day."
She placed them down on the bed and turned to stare at him, waiting for him to acknowledge her instructions and move out of the way.
The silence stretched on with Mark eyeing an increasingly nervous Carla like a dog (or wolf in this case) would eye a piece of meat.
