Chapter 30. Not Who She Seems
The next day, early in the morning, Stephanie and Caroline visited, after Matilda had informed them of Mark's recovery.
"Hey. Hey. Hey," Caroline greeted with a beaming smile when Carla opened the door, six large carrots clutched in her hand by their greens.
The blonde gave them a confused look when she pulled back from their hug, looking to Stephanie who rolled her eyes in exasperation.
"I brought it for good luck and fast recovery," the redhead said in explanation as she waved the carrots in Carla's face.
"Thank you," Carla mumbled with an awkward smile, receiving the gift of a carrot from her friend. "Is it some tradition you heard about, to bring carrots to the recovering?"
"Six carrots," Caroline corrected as she made her way into the home and began observing the small room. "And no, I saw it in my dream and thought it would only be fitting for our dearest Mark."
