Chapter 31. Missing
The next morning came with a lot of doubt and anxiety about what they were about to do.
Carla's hands shook as she wrapped up everything they had hurriedly put together for Stephanie in a bunch of old newspapers.
It took Mark having to pull her away from the packages, his steady hands cradling her shaking ones, and giving her a pep talk before she finally discarded her fears and focused on rounding up the preparation.
Finally, they were ready, exactly two hours before she was to meet with Stephanie.
"You have to be cautious but not too cautious because nervousness is like a beacon for weres and the last thing we need is attention." He lectured the blonde seated across from him in between large bites of his breakfast.
He had been hungrier than usual ever since waking up, always snacking on something, and growing tense whenever a bird or rabbit passed by, close enough for him to sense it.
