Chapter 34. Beta Attacks

The sound of clothes ripping was the only warning Carla got before Mark pounced at Beta, now in wolf form, his teeth aiming for Beta's throat.

The pair crashed into the narrow hallway, denting the doorframe and walls as they went down. 

Carla watched with wide horrified eyes as Beta shifted, grey fur sprouting from his skin, and the two began tearing into each other's flesh with a ferocity that caused the floorboards to tremble.

A touch on her arm startled her and she was suddenly being dragged towards the bedroom window by an anxious Kayden.

"We have to get out of here before they take us down with the house," he explained to the confused woman as he lifted her and tried to guide her over the windowsill.

Carla held onto the frame of the window before she could set her down, refusing to leave even as the sound of destruction raged on.

"We can't just tuck our tails and run. Mark's in recovery. We have to help him before Beta kills him." She pr
