Chapter 46. Powerless
Lotus’s POV
I look around the Winter Pack’s courtyard, and I can barely believe my eyes. The rebellion is a living thing now. For days, it has been a river of faces, banners, and supplies. My magic burns under my skin. Stronger now than it was before. Now that Louis and Lennox have both claimed me, it is becoming harder to contain. I’ve been moving among the newcomers, offering smiles, words, and small bursts of healing where I can.
I am careful not to use too much of my power, knowing how it drains me of energy. But there are so many who need help. Most of them are malnourished and sickly. The children are nothing but skin and bones, their eyes hollow and dull. My heart aches to help them all.
The sound of crying catches my attention and I look down to see a child tugging at my shirt. A little blonde boy with two black eyes, gazes up at me.
“Oh no,” I whisper as I kneel. “What happened to you?”
