Chapter 48. Bloodlines
Lotus’s POV
It’s cold, but not like it is in the Winter Pack. This cold is different, like it carries the promise of what is yet to come, just like Autumn carries the promise of Winter. I don’t have to guess where I am; there is only one place they would bring me to. I don’t doubt that they have taken me to him, the man who claims to be my father.
I twist my wrists, trying to get some relief from the silver shackles that bite at my wrists. It is a steady burn under my skin, dampening my magic until it is only a faint hum behind my ribs. It is enough to remind me that it is still there, and I will be sure to unleash hell on whoever removes these shackles.
The room is nothing but wet stone walls. A light hangs overhead, buzzing annoyingly. The smell of urine and blood is thick in the air. I know what will happen to me down here if I am forced to stay here for too long. They will torture me and kill me.
