Chapter 47. Singular Enemy
Levi’s POV
The scent of snow and iron fills the courtyard, but it is more than that. It is the scent of a rebellion. All morning, just every morning this week, the Winter grounds have been alive with warriors, rogues, and humans moving in purposeful swirls. They work together like they have been a single unit for years. They pass food, sharpen blades, and reinforce the walls.
I should feel proud of what we have created here. Lotus tends to these people as if they are her children. She heals them, feeds them, and sings to them. Most days I find myself watching her from a far, marveling at how easily all of this come to her. She was born to be a Luna.
Yet, a pain aches in my chest, like a knife in my chest. I scan the crowd, looking for the only person who makes all of this worth it, but there is no sign of her. And the sun seems to darken when I cannot find her.
Lotus hasn’t come back.
