Chapter 52. Beta's Test

“In the shower?” I swallowed hard, shivering at his touch. He lifted my chin to his face.

“What a mischievous mind, human,” he teased boldly. “Is that what you want? For me to give you a bath?”

I tried to push him away, but Harvey was persistent.

“That's not what I meant,” I stammered clumsily.

“And what did you mean, Sophie?” he whispered, brushing his lips against mine and igniting an inner fire.

“I'm tired, Harvey, I didn't mean anything.” I smiled gently, raising a hand to stroke his silky hair. “Can I go rest?”

In one swift motion, he lifted me off the ground and threw me over his shoulder, heading up the stairs.

“Alpha, I said I didn't need help!” I yelled, squirming and struggling. “Let me go!”

He gave me a daring slap on my rear and squeezed it with audacity.
