Chapter 77. Answering the Alpha's Call

“Great!” The Alpha sensually brushed his lips against mine, feeling the warmth of his touch course through my rain-soaked body. He ran his nails along my arm, causing my hair to stand on end.

“Why did you call me?” I whispered, still close to his lips.

“I will depart for the war against the Crescent Moon tomorrow. I want you to take care of yourself. I received a visit from the dark witch...” He stopped when he noticed the fear reflected in my eyes. “She won't reach you here, Sophie. I've taken measures to ensure that.”

“How?” I stammered, frightened. “What if she finds me when you're far away?”

“That's why you're becoming stronger, foolish human!” Growling, he pulled my body closer to his. “You'll be able to repel her. Summon me when you feel danger, and I'll come to your protection.”

“I hope it's in time before she drains me, or she'll find me on the ground in pieces.” I laughed morbidly.
