The cart rocked back and forth as the horses raced over the uneven terrain. Try as I might, I couldn’t stop the dread creeping over me.
Last time I thought that I was going into something that was better. That I was going to be in a better position than before, but I couldn’t stamp down this feeling that whatever was coming next would be even worse than what Clarise and Magnus was putting me through.
A place to learn defense? Somehow I doubted it would be such a simple thing.
Maybe a place to force me into my new position. A way to make me the perfect slave would be a better idea of wherever I was going.
I longed to throw the door open and throw myself out of the vehicle. Maybe I could run for it. Sure, there was no doubt I’d get hurt, but wasn’t I hurt enough already?
