Chapter 12

Akia POV

The weekend was exactly what I needed. I was able to relax and spend time with my family. I tried my hardest to think about my past and Matt as little as possible. I’m glad I brought Esme with me because she helped me keep my focus.

We just got back about an hour ago. I have early classes tomorrow, and I have just enough time to get ready for them so I can have a good night’s sleep. I check my phone to make sure my alarms are set, my heart dropping because I still haven’t heard from Matt.

My sleep was dreamless, and morning came sooner than I liked. I get out of bed and go through my morning routine. It was the shower that brought me to my knees.

I’m not sure about you, but I always find that being in the shower gives one a lot of time to think. Your mind can’t help but race and go over every good/bad even
