Chapter 18. Red-Eye King!
My heart races, slamming against my ribcage as I watch them draw nearer. I shut my eyes, waiting to be crushed by their leaping horses. Nonetheless, moments pass, and still, I feel nothing, not my head being smashed against a tree or my thorax caving into shattering ribs.
Tired of waiting, I open my eyes, and the sight that greets me is shriveling. The soldiers are suspended in the air, along with their chariots and horses, before they’re thrown backward to crash into a mighty tree. The force of impact causes the trunk to crack, bringing about a hovering of the tree.
One of the horses struggles to its hoofs and gallops away just before it comes crashing down on the horses, chariots, and soldiers. Blood splatters like water from a burst pipe, some drops even splashing on me. In the end, all the bodies are smashed, one head rolling out of the mess.
