Chapter 23. Sons of Dragons

“What are you doing?” Karen takes a position in front of me, blocking the trajectory of Ameera’s wicked arrow. From my standing, I notice when she reaches for her sides and pulls out a short knife. Then, the sky growls, leaving behind bright flashes of light, followed by a violent thunderbolt that causes the space to quiver.

“Get out of my way, or I’ll kill you!” Ameera draws another arrow and fixes on her bow. Her eyebrows are cringed, and her face is folded and red. For some reason, her hair has been neatly pinned by each side while she is clad in some leather armor that barely conceals her body, looking like some brown singlet and shorts.

Karen sizes her up with a scornful gaze and scoffs, “Young woman, I have confronted tougher opponents ten times your size and prevailed. You’re no match for me.”
