Chapter 20. The World’s Greatest City Nineveh
TWO YEARS AGO
My pupils dilate as rays of sunlight kiss my skin. Dark green leaves hover over the path, casting shadows on the way. While on the sides of the square, palm trees tower above everything, dancing slightly with the breeze.
I gawk at the colorful buildings around, turning three-sixty degrees, with my jaw dropped. Multicolored drawings of noblemen with long beards stare back at me. Other striking features in the vicinity include the massive sculptures of bulls, horses, and archers on chariots at the center of the square.
“Typical,” I mutter, striding past them. My gaze drifts to the people roaming the expanse in clean raiments of different shades. Glittering ornaments seem to be reflecting light on every individual. They all seem to be wearing jewelry, especially earrings and nose rings.
