Chapter 25. Bloodhound
PRESENT
Ameera’s boisterous incantations raise an octave. She spreads her arms, a devilish look plastered on her face. Yet nothing more than a thunderbolt reverberates the space. Karen stands with arms akimbo as she goes on with this endeavor for minutes. Karen’s face folds in self-righteous pity, and after waiting a while for something to happen, she readjusts her stance, confidence oozing out of her.
“Are you done?” She hollers at Ameera, who seemingly becomes more furious with her prayers or whatever. Having run out of patience, Karen swaggers forward with her dagger firmly positioned in her grip.
On seeing Karen’s murderous glare, Ameera begins to stagger backward. “The sons of the Dragon will rain hell on all of the Middle East and Mesopotamia, and you shall watch your beloved people being wiped off the face of the earth. And you...” She begins to curse.
“No one is coming to rescue you, Ameera.”
