Chapter 294. Dylan
LEE
After we got the calling cards from Lenard and he told us the price range for the hitmen he knew, Ashton immediately urged me to leave.
The moment we stepped outside, Ashton turned to me, concern etched on his face. “Are you okay?” he asked, his voice low.
He apologized right after, knowing how uncomfortable I had felt talking to Lenard. He understood that Lenard’s lack of formality, his disheveled appearance, and the shady company he kept were unsettling. And, of course, Lenard himself was a sketchy character—someone connected to hitmen, living with addicts in his apartment. I could tell that even Ashton, despite knowing Lenard as his father’s friend, wasn’t exactly at ease talking to him either.
“I’ll walk you back to your dorm,” Ashton offered, his hand gently wrapping around my wrist.
Without waiting for a response, he started walking, and I followed closely behind. He clearly knew the way, leading us through streets I didn’t recognize.
