Chapter 344. Let’s Cool You Down

“What the… what the hell, Tate?! Where… where the hell are you taking me?!” I yelled, pounding my fists against his back in frustration, hoping—praying—he’d finally let me go. But no. He just kept walking, his grip around my legs unrelenting as if I weighed nothing at all.
I craned my neck and realized he was heading toward his Jeep Wrangler, fumbling with the keys in one hand while keeping me slung over his shoulder like some oversized duffel bag.
Panic bubbled up inside me. I wanted so badly to squirm free, maybe even throw myself off him if that’s what it took. But I hesitated, the thought of cracking my head open on the pavement stopping me from acting on that impulse.
“Tate!” I hissed, my voice a mixture of anger and desperation. “I’m already pissed at you, and you’re making it worse! I have a shift, damn it! I’m going to be late!”
