I didn’t have any trouble pacing myself with my drinking anymore. I knew, and honestly expected, that Paige and Sarah would be the first to get drunk because of how quickly and how much they were drinking. By that point, they’d probably had four bottles each, while I was still finishing my second.
When I noticed they were both tipsy, it was already 11:27 PM. The song and music video from Tate were about to be released any minute. I wasn’t excited, but I was anticipating it, preparing myself to feel the pain.
I had told myself that tonight, at midnight, it would be the last time Tate would be the reason for my heartache. I would move on, and accept the truth—that Tate and I were not meant to be.
