Chapter 408. That Woman… Again

Two days passed, and somehow, my workload had lightened. Likewise, I could say that both Asher and Sarah were doing better—though not necessarily happy. Actually, if you asked them, they’d probably say they weren’t okay. Maybe “getting by” was a more appropriate way to describe their current state.

Within those two days, three significant things happened.

First, Sarah finally told Cholo everything about what she did with Fitz. We were there when she confessed, but we didn’t leave Paige’s car. The three of us—Paige, Asher, and I—sat inside while Sarah talked to Cholo. Paige was, of course, in the driver’s seat, Asher in the passenger seat, and I was in the back.

It felt like we were watching a scene from a movie… only that the sound was muted and we couldn’t hear anything. From our spot in the car, we couldn’t hear anything they were saying, given the distance between us and where Sarah and Cholo stood.
