Chapter 49
Sofia and Mary prepared the coffee while Arthur and Brienne set the table.
“Grandma, I wanted to see Dad in the hospital,” Sofia said with regret in her voice.
“Matheus said they would know the results of the biopsy later. I think we can go when you get back from school.”
“Why can’t we stay there with them? I can’t stand this agony. I want my mom,” Mary grumbled and hugged her grandmother.
“That’s why! Alanna couldn’t bear to see your agonized faces. And we have to be strong. He just went for a few tests, nothing major. Now go upstairs and get ready for school.”
The three of them went upstairs. Charlotte entered with bags of shopping.
“I’ve brought what Matheus left on the list. Alanna asked me to sign for the house. I’m going to the office. There’s stuff from Alanna and the foundation piling up.”
“Charlotte!” Brienne spoke up. “I don’t need another member of this family in the hospital; you’re seven months pregnant.”
