Kendra huffed and bowed her head.
“I need you here, Greg,” she whispered. “I don’t know what I was expecting coming here after so long, but this is tough.”
“I know it is, babe,” he replied.
“You’d think Dorothea would’ve changed. I mean, sure, she isn’t as insensitive, and she actually speaks to me now, but there’s only so far that goes,” Kendra confessed.
“What about your sister?”
“Elizabeth? I haven’t seen her since I arrived. I kinda don’t want to. Does that make me a bad person?”
Gregory went quiet again.
“Right,” Kendra said dryly. Just then, Henry’s car pulled into the compound and drove underneath the parking canopy.
“Are you going somewhere?” Gregory asked, hearing the motor sounds.
“No, no,” she replied. “Henry just came in.”
“Henry?” Gregory asked, feigning an ignorant pretense that assumed he was dismissive of the marriage plot all along.
