Chapter 13
Dorothea had not bothered to have Alvin offload any of the girls’ things from her car earlier on when they arrived at the hotel. When Kendra had asked why Dorothea said it was because Eva and Eve still believed they were all going back with her to her house.
“Seems to me like you’re the one who still believed it,” Kendra remarked and rolled her eyes.
“Well, you can’t blame me for wanting to get to know my grandbabies,” Dorothea replied. “They’re absolutely impossible to deny, just like Elizabeth when she was their age.” Dorothea smiled as she looked over at the twins. They had once again held onto both of Elsie’s arms, tugging her toward the vehicle.
“Uh-huh” was all Kendra could manage to respond with. She hated that her mother just compared her daughters to her younger sister, Elizabeth. They did not have the best relationship.
