Chapter 3

Victoria lay on her back on her bed as she looked at the ceiling with a smile on her face. Her hands were on her stomach as she recollected what happened earlier that night.

The conversation with Mr Smith went more smoothly than she had expected and she was not expecting him to confess to her and tell her that he was going to court her.

They ate their food in silence but every once in a while, they would sneak glances at one another and some other times, their eyes locked with one another but she would be the first to look away as her cheek would flush in embarrassment.

While they left the restaurant, Mr Smith locked his hands with her but she had made an attempt to remove her hands but he held them firmly, not looking at her.

She could feel her heartbeat on her head as they walked. She felt so shy and she felt her knees weaken. He had asked for her address but she wasn't ready for him to know the place so she told him not to bother and that she had called an Uber already.

He told her to cancel but she was unwilling. After much contemplation, she told him she didn't want to ride with him because everything that had happened today was too much for her to handle. She assured him that there was no bad blood between them and she looked forward to a beautiful working day tomorrow.

When the Uber came, Mr Smith opened the door for her to get it. It felt awkward most times as she would see him as her boss and not an ordinary man. Before he closed the door, he did something that made her heart skip, he kissed her on the lips.

She has not been able to get over it till now as whenever she remembers it, she would smile. She tossed and turned on her bed but yet sleep refused to come her way so she began to recollect how her day went.

The words of Mr Smith and how he told her he liked her set her heart ablaze. She was terrified of the immense feeling she felt.

Victoria woke up the next day with a smile on her face. She had not realized when she finally fell asleep but the moment she woke up, she was reminded by the fact she has to go to work and that she would see someone very special to her. She was glad to find out that she wasn't the only one that felt the way she felt but he also felt the same too. She had not confessed her feelings to him yet but then she is reminded by the fact Landon likes her too. She had not heard from him after the dinner date went wrong and she believed he had every right to be mad at her but then it created doubt in mind.

She wondered if he truly liked her as he claimed because if he did, she expected him to have confessed. She wondered where he could be. She sighed as she got up from her bed to use the toilet as she felt her stomach ache.

"Mother nature calls!" She screamed and ran to the toilet.

"You seem to be in a good mood. Want to share the good news?" Elizabeth spoke, noticing the glow in her friend's face.

Victoria smiled hard. "Well, there is so much to say but then again I do not know how to start! I'm overwhelmed! I'm excited, ignited and gosh!" She covered her face with her hands.

"Go on, tell me the good news." Elizabeth insisted.

"Jason confessed his feelings to me!" She tells Elizabeth making Elizabeth brows creased in confusion.

"Jason? Who is that?" She asked as she has never heard Elizabeth talk of anyone with the name Jason.

Victoria's face palmed herself as she realised that she had just called her boss by his name. "That's Mr Smith's name. Jason Smith." She tells Elizabeth to make her mouth form the 'o' shape.

"That's a nice name. Oh my goodness!" She exclaimed as she remembered what Victoria had just said earlier.

"Jason confessed to you? Oh my goodness! Tell me every little detail and don't you dare leave a story out or else I will have to castrate you." She threatened her friend.

Victoria giggled at first before telling her of everything that happened last night. Elizabeth was very happy for her friend. While Victoria told her of what happened between her and Mr Smith, she squealed in joy.

"Here comes the best part." Victoria said, peaking Elizabeth's curiosity.

"Go on and tell me immediately! I cannot control my emotions." She urged her excitedly.

"Well, I will have to delay a bit because whenever I remember, I feel tingles down my spine." Elizabeth confessed.

"Oh my goodness! Do not tell me it is actually what I am thinking." Elizabeth spoke, widening her eyes.

Victoria shrugged. "Well, maybe it is and maybe it is not. But anyways while he guided me to the Uber, he kissed me." She finally let the cat out of the back.

"Someone pour me water, I'm about to faint." Elizabeth began to fan herself with her hands. She was happy for Victoria as if it was her own story to tell. She was glad the complicated situation between her best friend and Mr Smith was cleared.

"Now you are making me envious. When will Mathew confess to me?" She sighed deeply as she placed her hands on her chest.

Victoria placed her hands around her friend's neck. "Worry not about it. He will definitely ask you out soon. You said so yourself. Patience my dear, patience." She tells her friend.

"Thanks so much Victoria. Now that your own is cleared, I am sure mine would too." Elizabeth assured herself.

"Well what's for breakfast?" Victoria asked. Elizabeth was the better cook and she loved cooking so she was always in the kitchen.

"Nothing. I woke up not feeling the need to cook. You can just make something for yourself and leave for work." Elizabeth tells her.

Victoria pouted. "This is bad. I thought you were going to be my chef. You promised to always cook for me." Victor recalled as she batted her eyes with the image of looking like a puppy wanting.

"That's not gonna work on me. And stop acting as if we are In a relationship." Elizabeth scolded.

"Ouch! Straight to the bones. I've been dumped! I thought we were married? Am I not your wife anymore?" Victoria asked Elizabeth who rolled her eyes in return.

"Go away!" She tells her off.

"You are not my wife. You already got someone in your life and look at me. I'm single, nothing to do at all about it because I have to be patient, according to you." Elizabeth lamented making Victoria laugh.

"Come on. I told you that you won't be single any more. And besides from the way your described Mathew, he doesn't seem like the type to rush anything at all so be calm and patience because the patient dog eats the fattest bone."

Elizabeth hissed. "Whatever." She said dismissively as she walked out of the kitchen.

"Elizabeth, are you seriously not going to make me something to eat?" Victoria shouted from behind her, making sure to call her by her full name.

"I have said all I have to say. Make something for yourself. I have to go to work." Elizabeth said.

Victoria walked to the fridge, took out the bottle of milk, put some of it in a glass cup and drank. She went back to her room to find the clothes she would wear for today. Normally she just chose anything but today, she wanted to look different and beautiful.

She couldn't settle for less. After finding the perfect outfit, she went to take her bath. She didn't usually wear much makeup but today she had taken her time to look very good and until she was pleased with herself, she didn't leave the house.

"Today is gonna be good." She sang to herself as she walked out of the room.

Elizabeth had left thirty minutes ago and Elizabeth was usually the one that left after her.
