Chapter 141. Pow-Pow-Pow

Maddie’s heart pounded as she watched Elder Roy step away to answer his phone. She knew this was her only chance. With trembling hands, she reached for the pistol, trying to stay as quiet as possible. 

Her fingers wrapped around the cold metal, and she took a deep breath, steadying herself. 

Elder Roy’s voice muffled as he spoke into the phone, but she could tell he was irritated. “You’re calling me by one in the morning, dammit! I told you to handle it. I don’t care about the details. Just get it done.” 

Maddie glanced at the door, considering her options. She needed to act quickly and decisively. She could not let him destroy her life and her father’s. With a surge of determination, she aimed the pistol at Elder Roy’s back. 

Her heart was beating so hard but she knew that she needed to handle the situation. “Elder Roy,” She called out, trying to keep her voice steady. This was her first time holding a gun but she knew how to use it.
