Chapter 142. Ouch!

Maddie’s hands shook as she stared at the dying man on the floor She had never imagined it would come to this. Despite what was going on in her mind and soul, she knew she had to stay strong, this was for the best. 

Her life and the life of her father depended on her now. 

She looked at Elder Roy, his eyes pleading for help. A part of her wanted to call an ambulance, to save him. But another part, the one that had been pushed to the brink by his threats and manipulation, knew that he would never stop if she let him live. 

“You did this to yourself,” She muttered, trying to convince herself as much as him. “You forced my hand.” Her voice cracked and she quickly wiped away a tear that had slid down her face. 

The man’s eyes narrowed in pain and anger. “You will…regret this,” He gasped. “I swear on my soul that you will!” He coughed a few more times. He was getting weaker by the minute.
