Author’s POV

Nothing had changed for Rhea. It was like she was living in a loop. Everything happened at a specific time, the drugs came and she took them. She stood by the window for a few minutes. She went back to bed and he was always there.

Lucian hardly left her side. It was mostly to change. Even while she slept, she could feel his eyes on her. When she woke up, he was usually the first thing she saw. Sometimes he was sleeping but most times his eyes were on her.

And Cassian, it had been a while since she had seen him. It felt like he was purposely avoiding her. She could hear his voice down the corridor, sometimes outside the palace. And yet never in the room himself.

She knew he was using Lucian to check up on her. Sometimes she heard both of them discussing outside in the corridor. And the two times he had come, even though Rhea didn’t want to think hard about it - he had been cold.
