Author’s POV

Rhea hadn’t bothered at the walk yesterday. She had felt sorely disconnected but decided not to think about it. Maybe it felt like that because it had been a while since she had been free. The entire time before this she had been running.

Now that she was here, she didn’t know how to act. Her eyes hadn’t stayed still. She had been unable to think beyond the eyes she could feel on her. It was like toxic air, taking it out of her lungs. It tired her.

She wanted to go out today again but she didn’t want all the guards with her. She knew who she had to tell but she wasn’t sure how to get his attention. He hadn’t come to see her all day and it was evening already.

Maybe she would get Lucian to talk to him but she didn’t. Lucian had been just as quiet. Although he was almost always with her, he was sort of cold and detached. She could almost always feel his eyes, they were watching something, watching for something.
