Lucian’s POV

“Come in Lucian,” Alpha Caden, my father said. He was seated on top of the table even though the seat beside him was empty. He looked distraught with his tie sagged, almost completely loosened. His head was bowed, his eyes stared into the brown liquid in the square glass that he was holding. Whiskey, I am sure that is what that is. Father lives in a tuxedo, he always has his tie on his neck, fixed and ready for whatever meeting. He is never not perfect, if he is less than perfect (which is usually only during the week of Max’s funeral anniversary) he stays tucked away and unseen.

This is the first time I have seen father anything less than perfect. With Cassian and Dorian’s disappearance came another version of father that I have never witnessed before. I have always known that he adores them, I have always known that I am nothing more than dust when compared to them, I have always known about his partiality but I did not expect it to sting as much as
