Chapter 9

Cassian’s POV

The door swung open immediately we got in front of it.

The place looked eerie. Everything was covered in dust. For some reason the sun rays from outside did not get in in spite of the fact that one of the windows was cracked open. It was dark and dusty and strangely cold even though it was summer and the heat had been unbearable all day.

Lucian and I looked around in shock. I brought my phone out and turned on the flash light so that we could see more clearly. Thank goodness Rhea is still in the car which is parked a small distance from here. About two minutes walk. I searched for my phone in my pocket and sent a quick message to Dorian.

“If anything goes wrong, get in and drive off. Rhea is in the car, take her and leave,” I texted and then thought of the question he would ask next.

“How would I know if things are going badly?” He texted back. I rolled my eyes in irritation. What a very predictable idiot!
