Lucian’s POV

“Watch your step,” Camille called as I walked down a darkened set of stairs. I hadn’t been to that part of the palace before, I did not even know that it existed until that day when Camille decided was the right time to tell me… no show me the truth. Without any word of complaint I walked. We walked silently even though my mind was going through every single thought and scenario possible.

Is Camille trying to kidnap me? I wondered. No, she knows better. If she was to kidnap anybody, it would be Cassian or even Dorian. At least father will care if they went missing, if I went missing, he would probably jump up in joy. And besides it’s Camille, she is the one person I felt like I could trust.
