Chapter 43. I Can’t Promise

Alana felt slightly uncomfortable under the gaze of the people now focused on her, as she was being attended to by a doctor who was applying a bandage to her head.

"I will give you some pain relievers and vitamins," the doctor said, glancing at Leo.

"Alright, doc. Thank you," Leo said. After that, the doctor tidied up his equipment and excused himself to leave, escorted by one of the waiters, leaving only Alana, Leo, Miranda, and Selena in the room.

Selena and Miranda looked at Alana with furrowed brows, while Leo stared at her with a sharp gaze, making Alana wonder if her heroic act was a mistake.

"Aunt, can I talk to Alana alone?" Leo said, without taking his eyes off his wife. However, Miranda did not respond to Leo's request, they still looked at Alana with displeasure, and Leo startled Miranda again.

"Aunt," Leo exclaimed.

"Yes," Miranda replied.

"I want to talk to Alana alone," Leo said again, making Miranda finally nod and lead Selena
