Chapter 41

Kyle’s POV

“I don’t know what to do.” I whisper to her as she opens the cupboard and carefully takes out two bowls. As quietly as possible, I pour the cereal into the bowl, casting a nervous glance towards the other room where the drunk man is sleeping.

“Well, figure something out.” Megan's whisper yells at me, looking over her shoulder at him. “We need an inside man, Kyle. You were the person I relied on. I promised Greg we could handle this.”

“Don’t call him Greg.” I take a spoonful and bring it to my lips. “I don’t know what to do here, Megan.”

“My ass is on the line.” She whispers. “So man the fuck up and help your little sister. Whatever it takes.” She places her half-eaten bowl in the sink and slips out of the house masterfully.

Even as she slips away, I remain motionless. While I quietly clean both bowls, I wonder if there is anything I can do to make things right with Sky and rekindle our relationship.
