Chapter 49
Sky's POV
As I tried to hide my feelings, Ethan was the only one who noticed that something was off. He gets up from the chair and settles on his knees at my feet, his hands resting lightly on my legs.
“Sky, what’s wrong? What’s wrong with her?”
“Oh, no.” Owen shakes his head. He tries to sit between Lowell and I, but there’s not enough room and he ends up sitting half on the couch and half on Lowell’s lap. With a gentle gesture, he removes the mug from my hand and passes it on to Uncle Morris, before proceeding to smooth out my hair and rub small, soothing circles on my back, providing me with a sense of comfort and warmth.
Despite the urge to open my eyes, I can't bring myself to do it as the accident replays in my head.
“This couldn’t have happened at a better time.” Uncle Morison growls out of frustration.
Ower repeatedly counts to three in silence while holding my hand and comforting me by rubbing my arm. While my eyes remain closed, I exhale
