Alex’s POV

The phone rang and the motherfucker picked up.

“This is a surprise, if I must say.”

“Cut the bullshit, Jace. I am here for one thing and one thing only.”

I could feel his smirk over the phone, “which is?” he asked with a nonchalant voice.

“Stay away from Emily” I warned, my voice cold and deadly.

“Wait what? Emily? I thought she was just an employee? Are employees not allowed to associate or have a life outside work?” his tone was mocking.

“Jace, you know what you are doing. Playing with her heart to get to me? How low can you get?” I asked, my fist clenched as memories flooded into my head.

“What the fuck are you even talking about? I genuinely like Emily and you being her boss won’t stop her from doing anything. If you are genuinely angry that she is with me and it is breaking some kind of protocol, you can fire and let her come work for me. All settled. This should be the last time you call me again…”
