Chapter 19
Her voice was soft, sweet. Damn, he had missed hearing her speak. It has completely shattered his heart to see her struggle with words, to see her become a shadow of who she was before Mateo’s death.
“I-I spoke?” she stammered before smiling. “I…” He nodded to keep her from straining further for words. “You did, Ava,” he caressed her chestnut hair that was carefully and neatly packed into a bun. “But do not force it, with time, your voice will return.”
Her eyes glittered in the golden light of the jet. He held her by the waist. “Let’s go inside,” she led her tenderly into the second section of the jet that was separated from where others were seated. It was simple, cozy and just for two. Only an enamored lounge chair that looked like a queen-sized bed and a very large screen television was inside.
