Darcy stared at him as if she could not quite believe what she had just heard

“You mean to say…..?”

“Louis has changed his mind,” he said firmly. “Let’s leave it at that, Darcy.”

She could not leave it there. Where she had failed with her brother he had succeeded, but there was no feeling of jealousy in Darcy only the feeling of gratitude.

“I ought to thank you for this,” she said in a voice utterly you ought to apologise,”

He returned whimsically, “I am happy that as your fiancée I could get some sense into your brother as I would always be there throughout our life taking care of you and your affairs.”
