Chapter 34. Reconstruction (2)
Observing Song Sun-Young standing at the door, I smiled sadly. My mother-in-law was without her usual smile. Her tired, swollen, and concerned eyes were fixed on us.
"Mom!" JaeMin spoke, looking at her. Instantly, her small eyes widened, and her lips formed a pout. A tear rolled down her face, and her arms reached out to him in despair.
Sun rushed towards him, just as desperate as her son, and quickly embraced him. Even smaller than JaeMin, she cradled him in her arms and stroked his hair upon hearing his first loud sob.
I slowly moved away, feeling my heart shattering into pieces once again, and looked at them with anguish. Sun touched him with such tenderness, providing the necessary solace in that moment. She held him in her arms as if he were just a scared little boy and comforted him without uttering a single word, only through her maternal touch.
