Chapter 8

As we sat in the orientation room at the FBI, I noticed how Elera’s attention seemed to be drawn to Coordinator Jax’s chiseled physique. She kept stealing glances at him and smiling as he made his way toward our table.

“Hello there, new recruits,” he greeted us with a smirk. “I’m Coordinator Jax, and I’ll be overseeing your first case.”

Elera giggled, and I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy. I tried to brush it off and focused on the briefing.

As the presentation went on, I noticed Jax and Elera exchanging flirtatious glances. At one point, Jax leaned in close to her ear and whispered something that made her laugh.

After the briefing, Jax pulled Elera aside to “discuss the case further.” I watched as they walked away, and my jealousy grew. I didn’t know if I should confront her or just let it go.

Later that day, as Elera and I were working on our investigation, Jax walked into the room. He leaned against the wall, his eyes fixated on Elera.
