He starts checking it, and I get a bit nervous, waiting for his answer.

He grabs a red pen from my pencil case and writes something on the paper. Then he gives me the paper, and I quickly look at it.

I close my eyes and slowly open them.

"10/10. Good job," he says with a smile.

"Hell yeah," I say, getting weirdly excited to finish the math pages. "Nextttt," I add, grinning widely.

"Math is boring for you, huh?" he asks, raising an eyebrow as he hands me another paper from the packet. "Boring, but you get a lot of the main ideas," he continues, sounding impressed.

"It is boring," I admit, looking at him and shrugging. "I think it's just because Mr. Montgomery isn't here, watching over my shoulder..."

Having Mr. Thorne here instead of Mr. Montgomery somehow makes me actually want to do my work.
